Safety Around Water

This program is intended for children who never have had the opportunity to participate in swim lessons for financial reasons.

BACK THIS YEAR: Participants will receive dinner at the end of each evening!

The Y wants to ensure all families are ready for a fun and safe summer. To do that, we’re helping families become “Water-Ready” by offering FREE Safety Sundays this Spring!

Each session we’ll work on developing water safety skills that help reduce the risk of drowning and build confidence and competence in and around water. Following the safety lesson, participants get in the water to practice and then enjoy some free swim time. Sessions are from 2:15-3pm.

Please note: While all parents/guardians are encouraged to get in the water, a parent/guardian MUST get in the water with all non-swimmers.

April 6

• Safety Tip: Reach Throw – Don’t Go!
• In-water Focus: Bubbles and floating

April 27

• Safety Tip: Backyard pools
• In-water Focus: Jumping in & rolling to your back to get to the wall

May 4

• Safety Tip: Lifejackets & boating safety
• In-water Focus: Bobs & kicking on front and back

May 18

• Safety Tip: Never Swim Alone!
• In-water Focus: We will put it all together by jumping into the pool & kicking your way to safety

PLEASE NOTE: Register an adult and then you’ll be asked to add the names and ages of everyone who is participating during the registration process. You do NOT need to register each person individually.
