Swim Team
The Carlisle Family YMCA offers a competitive swimming program that competes in both YMCA and USA Swimming. The program includes development and training for all levels from the novice swimmer who can complete one length of the pool unassisted to the national elite. We encourage sportsmanship, teach a strong work ethic and make the sport enjoyable for swimmers and their families. The team is divided into 6 divisions: Precompetitive, Gold, Silver, White, Green & Blue. See below for more details on each team.
EVALUATIONS
Evaluations will be held at the Carlisle Family YMCA on Sept 8-10, 2026 from 6-7pm. Swimmers of all levels should come whatever day works best. You don’t need to come all three days.
PLEASE NOTE: All competitive swim team members must have a Y Membership (youth, teen or family) that is effective by the first day of practice through the last day of practice. (A Y membership is optional for the Precompetitive team since they don’t compete in meets.)

Blue Team
ONLY USE THIS PROGRAM TO REGISTER IF YOU WANT TO PAY IN FULL FOR THE 2026-27 SEASON.
Blue Team is designed for competitive swimmers who represent another club or high school team but would like the opportunity to compete with the CARY Sharks at select YMCA and/or USA Swimming meets. Practices are offered Monday through Friday to provide additional training opportunities that complement each swimmer’s primary team. Swimmers are expected to prioritize attendance and training commitments with their club or high school team, using CARY Sharks practices to supplement—not replace—their primary training program. This group is ideal for athletes looking to expand their competitive opportunities while maintaining their commitment to their primary team. Morning practice and dryland training will be offered as additional training for swimmers asked by the coaches to participate.
- Evaluations: Sept 8-10, 2026 from 6-7pm at the Carlisle Family YMCA (311 S West St, Carlisle)
- Preseason: Sept 14-25, 2026
- Season: Sept 28, 2026 – Feb 26, 2027 (regular season – could go longer if you qualify for championship meets)
- Practices: Mon-Fri from 5-6:30pm
- Location: Carlisle YMCA Aquatic Center (103 Midway Drive, Carlisle)
- Cost: $300^ (four $75 monthly payments* available by request)
^If you want to participate in USA meets and you already have a USA Swimming membership, you can select that option during the registration process and you’ll be charged an additional $90 at registration to cover your USA Swimming registration renewal fee.
*Monthly payments are a convenience. You cannot pick and choose what months you want to participate. All payments are required. The first payment will be charged at the time of registration and the other three will be charged to the same payment method on Oct 1, Nov 1 and Dec 1.

Gold Team

Gold Team is for anyone new to swimming. Participants must be able to swim 25 free and/or 25 back unassisted. They will learn to swim all 4 strokes, dive off the starting block & do flip turns. Swimmers on this team should participate in a minimum of 3 swim meets.
- Evaluations: Sept 8-10, 2026 from 6-7pm at the Carlisle Family YMCA (311 S West St, Carlisle)
- Season: Oct 12, 2026 – Feb 26, 2027
- Practices: Mon/Fri 6-7pm & Wed 6-7:30pm at the Carlisle YMCA Aquatic Center (103 Midway Drive, Carlisle)
- Cost: $300^ (four $75 monthly payments* available by request)
^Includes the mandatory USA Swimming registration fee for returning USA swimmers.

Green Team

Green Team is for high school swimmers who will compete for Carlisle High School in the 2026-27 season. These practices will get you ready for the high school season and provide opportunities for additional meets and post-high school season competition. Morning training and a 2-week preseason session also is offered for this group. A USA membership is optional.

Precompetitive Team
ONLY USE THIS PROGRAM TO REGISTER IF YOU WANT TO PAY IN FULL FOR THE 2026-27 SEASON.
Precompetitive Team is for youth new to swimming who aren’t quite ready to compete in swim meets yet. Participants will learn the basics so they can be prepared to compete in the future. We will hold an end-of-season intersquad meet so they can get a chance to swim an event.

Silver Team

Silver Team is for swimmers who know all 4 strokes and will compete in a minimum of 3 meets. They will work on stroke technique, start to read a pace clock and increase aerobic capacity by learning what a set is. Diving off the starting blocks and turns are also a key focus at this level.

Swim Team Evaluations

White Team

White Team participants must be able to do an IM and are expected to participate in meets with a goal to make Y Districts and beyond. This group refines technique and learns how to push themselves. Goal setting and focus on improvement in all four strokes is key. Competing in all four strokes at various distances is encouraged. Participants should attend practice a minimum of 3-4 times a week. Morning practices and dryland training will be offered as additional options for swimmers selected by the coaches. White Team also includes a 2-week preseason training session.
